1989 IROC Z28 350TPI L98 mods
Hey guys, I'm a little new to third gens but I've been doing ALOT of research.....anyway if everything goes according to plan then I'll have a 1989 IROC Z28 with the 5.7 TPI pretty soon and I just wanted to start thinking ahead, as far as mods so what do you think:
The previous owner had a true dual exhaust with shorty headers and glass packs put on, he had the engine rebuilt, and the heads(stock I think) ported and polished. Here's what I Need some input on- These are the mods I was thinking of doing: Obviously oil/plug change-the car sat for a while- probably upgraded coil/wires Airfoil or possibly a 52mm Throttle Body later on Ported runners, maybe Plenum Gutted Airbox Ed Wright custom burned Fastchip *Possibly Under drive Pulleys And that's basically it. So here's the stumper- I would love to make somewhere around 300 hp at the crank(bhp right?) but with this list of relativity cheap mods combined with all the things he's already had done, do you think that's even a reasonable/realistic goal? I was thinking the whole exhaust could be worth about 20-30 hp and all of those other mods combined could be another 20-40.......Is that anywhere in the ballpark? If there's any thing you would add/change on this list I would love to hear. Feel free to criticize! Much Appreciated |
