LF Turn Signal Constantly Flashing
70 Chevelle SS. Has sat for most of past 15 years. Battery wouldn't hold a charge. Found LF park lamp (in bumper) always on. Rear lamp not on. All other brake lights, parking lights & turn signals work. Replaced flasher element with new one. Now same LF lamp always flashes, regardless of key on/off, so does the turn indicator on dash. None of the other turn signals work now. I don't have a wiring diagram. Any ideas? Thanks!

Re: LF Turn Signal Constantly Flashing
You may have the wrong bulb in that or another bulb socket.

Re: LF Turn Signal Constantly Flashing
Thanks Ironic. Same bulbs have been in there for about 20 years. Replaced both flasher elements, (Turn Sig & 4-way Emerg), no change.
Bought a replacement turn signal switch from Ground Up (ss396.com), and installed it. Was an involved job, had to lower column, and cut off part of the flat plastic "conduit" that the harness passes through to get the old harness out, etc. - But not too bad. Above problem is solved. Except - the dash turn indicators work perfectly with the headlights/park lamps off, but when headlights or park lights are on, then the turn sig lamps on the dash go opposite: R. Turn makes the left indicator flash, and vice-versa. The outside lights all function normally, just the dash indicators do this. Thinking maybe a bad ground somewhere in park lamp circuit? Any ideas or advice will be appreciated, thanks!

Re: LF Turn Signal Constantly Flashing
All I can think of is besides a short as you suggested is the turn signal/ hazard switch in the column itself, not sure if this is the one you installed. You can see it here: http://www.opgi.com/p/body-electrica...4/PP00033.html
You can also find a wiring diagram here: http://elcaminocentral.com/articles/wiring/701.gif ElCamino and Chevelle should be the same harness. Best of luck. |
