Strange noise

I have purchased a 1990 reatta,i have replaced the erg valve cause it was cracked,That did not solve my problem. There is almost a train whistle noise when i try to accelerate and the car hardly moves at all.I noticed there was a little "walking" of the tensioner when i would hit the gas while it was in park.Replaced the tensioner pulley and it is even worse now.Any ideas what is going on??

Re: Strange noise

So, you bought the car, even though it wouldn't move?

Have you checked the condition and level of the transmission fluid?
