Oil Pressure Guage Reading Very High
I noticed recently that the pressure gauge 'pins' upon startup on my '93 Wrangler 4.0 ( 97K miles ). Car seems to run well for periods of time without any high engine temp. I've experienced this before but the pressure gauge returns to normal after a while. Could the sending unit be bad?

Re: Oil Pressure Guage Reading Very High
I think I found the problem. When I turn the ignition key on without starting the engine, the oil pressure immediately pegs to 80! Since there is no pressure, the reading is obviously incorrect. Can anyone confirm this?

Normally if you ground the wire to the sending unit and turn on the ignition on it will peg. Maybe your sending is grounded or has high resistance. |
