Unhappy 2008 ss a/c trouble

Hello everyone,

I am a noob to car forums, so here goes. I have a 2008 Impala SS, love it!! One major problem with it though is the a/c compressor. I got it replaced last july at the dealership and they must have used a used part or a junk yard replacement because every time I run the a/c and I use the brakes I hear a squeel or a buzz from the compressor (i think) and its loud enough to notice, but the tech at the dealership refuse to hear it......what can i do to have them look @ it????

Hi big_red_imp,

Welcome to the forums! I can understand your concern with the buzzing noise your vehicle makes. If you are unhappy with your current dealership, you can always visit another dealership for a second opinion . If you need any assistance with this please feel free to contact us.

Brake pedal application has nothing to do with A/C compressor operation. If you had the car at a dealer for the repairs. Go back and get the service manager, have him/her sit in the car and YOU duplicate the noise for them so they know what to look for.

I REALLY doubt they installed a used compressor.

when you have this issue is it all the time when you apply the brakes or only when moving.

if the compressor failed with a seized condition did they replace the belt and the tension-er ? this is normally required because when the belt comes off with this failure the tension-er gets damaged.

how much was the cost for this service ?
