Re: oil pressure low; stop engine???

The message shows up because the ECM is reading low oil pressure, NOT low oil level. You need to check (or have someone check) the oil pressure. You will cause major damage if you continue to drive it and it indeed has low oil pressure. You may also just have a faulty sensor. The oil pressure needs to be checked with a manual gauge.

Re: oil pressure low; stop engine???

What year...? What engine...? Sounds like Oil Prassure Sending Unit is faulty, either internally or its wiring! That's the best case scenario, worst case scenario could be the Oil Pump going south!

Is the check engine light on? If so what is the code?

My '08 3.5 has done this 3 or 4 times over the last 4 weeks-putting the car in neutral will turn the message off. Where is the pressure sensor?

could be the pckup screen is clogged on the pump, or the the pump internally is bad, I seriously doubt it is a bad sending unit. you won't know till you get the pressure checked.
