ECM/Idle surge Problems?

I just thought i post this up for ppls to read and give me some suggestion.

91 Talon
Stock turbo
5sp, FWD

Basically what happen to my car is that it used to idle rough and sometimes it would stall. Sound like i have an Idle problems? Right? So i messed around with the BISS. So i got it to run without stalling, but it run at a higher rpm. About 2 weeks ago the car stall and wouldn't start, i came back the next day fiddle around with the BISS got it to run and drove home.

After that i got the car to start it would run for 5 minute and die. I take it to a mechanic. At first the mechanic though it was a feul pump, but since he was able to start the car and run for 5 minute. He suspect the crank shaft sensor, after replacing that the situation doesn't improve. Everytime the car start and die you could heard a whole bunch of low noise from under the dash board, or if I turn the car ON and off I could hear a clicking noise coming from the ECU. THe mechanic said that the only thing left to do is replacing the ECM unit. Upon removal of the ECM unit and asking around for a new one I found out that the one i had might not be the right one for my car.

This is the Unit i had in my car "MD145903 ". When i check this with the VFAQ site. I found out that this is for the 1G AWD car.

MD166260 is the one i need for my car.

Re: ECM/Idle surge Problems?

I don't believe ECMs click -- more likely a main (ignition/fuel pump) relay in the same area.

That said, obviously having the wrong ECM would cause all sorts of serious problems; I assume you obtained this vehicle used.

Then again...your post is eight years old, so your car's probably been recycled into paper clips by now.
