Using engine oil SWG 20-50 instead of SWG 10- 30
Hi Dears,
I have Wndstar 2000 lx. Recently I changed crnk, crnk shaft bearing, piston rings of all cylinders, and all the valves. Previosly, I had been using SWG 10- 30 motorcraft engine oil. After repair (for 500 miles) I used SWG 20-50 castrol engine oil. Is it harmful to use this higher grade oil in this repaired engine. Azharj Last edited by azharj; 01-22-2013 at 02:12 AM. |

Re: Using engine oil SWG 20-50 instead of SWG 10- 30
You should use the grade that is called for in the owner's manual.
In USA terms.....that would be 5W-30 or 0W-30. FORD also stated that it is fine to use 5W-20 or 0W-20. Again, that is in USA terms.......I don't know what is called for where you are, but you should use what is called for.
