Coolant Change
I have an 2006 Impala LTZ with the 3.9 and about 61k on the engine. I do not think the coolant has been changed yet. Does it need to be flushed or can you just drain the coolant and refill with new dexcool?

Re: Coolant Change
Have it flushed and the coolant replaced. Especially if it looks brown.

dexcool is good for about 4 years max, not the 5years as claimed. only use GM approved dexcool. DO NOT USE COMPATIBLE COOLANTS! ONLY USE DISTILLED WATER. the system when drained will not remove all the coolant. if you flush the system to clean ,you will need to drain the engine of coolant. when draining the radiator only a small amount will come out. your vehicle s coolant system holds about 3.75 gallons. replace the thermostat/gasket. remove and wash the plastic fill tank also. |
