Programming keyless remote for Lexus LS400
Can anyone tell me how to program the keyless remote for a 96 Lexus LS400? I have some instructions, but I can't get it to work. Either the instructions are no good, or the remote is bad.

remote programming for 96 SC300
Thanks for a friend who tested it and it works for his 96 SC300.
Even the remote for this car has the same code as my 97 LS400, this same instruction doesn't work for me, I know it doesn't work for 95 LS400 as well. (failed at step 7) If somebody had successful experience with 97 LS400, I would like to hear. thanks. Remote Programming Instructions 1. Driver's door OPEN and unlocked, all other doors closed and locked. 2. Insert YOUR key in ignition, DO NOT TURN, remove key. 3. Using the MANUAL lock/unlock button ON THE DRIVERS DOOR, slowly press lock and unlock 5 times (count the lock 5 times and unlock 5 times). 4. Shut door. 5. Open door. 6. Using the lock/unlock button ON THE DRIVERS DOOR, slowly press lock and unlock 5 times (count the lock 5 times and unlock 5 times). 7. With the door open insert your key into the ignition, turn to on position (DON'T START), wait 5 seconds. Turn off and remove key. 8. Locks should cycle once (Car will lock and then unlock once). If they don't cycle or they cycle more than once, do steps 1-7 over. 9. Now using the remote, push lock button, hold for one second, release. The locks should cycle once. If not, start over and go slower. 10. Close the door. Open the door. Press the lock button on the remote. The locks should cycle. Close the door. Press the lock button on the remote, the doors should lock. Press again and the doors should unlock. |

Re: Programming keyless remote for 99 Lexus LS400
Missing step from most instructions posted. This is from Lexus TSIB dated April 10, 1998. Without this step my car would not enter the programing mode.
A. Before starting the programming procedures, make sure to SET UP the vehicle as follows. 1. Remove Key from ignition 2. CLOSE AND LOCK ALL THE DOORS (this is the missing step) 3. Manually unlock and open the driver's door only Also, the instructions say to use the power door lock/unlock switch for cycling the locks. Maybe manually lock/unlock will work but mine entered programing mode using electric lock/unlock. |

Re: Programming keyless remote for Lexus LS400
Local lex dealer charges $45+ (0.5-hr labor) to program the fob! there are a few versions of programming procedure floating arount the web, here is the one works for me (id: HYQWDT-C):
1. sitting in driver seat, with driver's door OPEN, press lock/unlock button ON THE DRIVERS DOOR to lock all doors, then manually unlock driver door only. 2. Insert YOUR key in ignition, DO NOT TURN, then remove key. 3. Using the same lock/unlock button ON THE DRIVERS DOOR, slowly press lock-unlock in 5 cycles 4. Shut door. 5. Open door. 6. Using the same lock/unlock button ON THE DRIVERS DOOR, again slowly press lock-unlock in 5 cycles 7. With the door open insert your key into the ignition, turn to 'on' position (DON'T START), wait 5 seconds. Turn off and remove key. 8. Locks should cycle once (Car will lock and then unlock once by herself). If they don't cycle or they cycle more than once, do steps 1-7 over. 9. Now using the remote, push lock button, hold for one second, then release the button. The locks should cycle once. If not, start over and go slower. 10. Close the door. 11. Open the door. 12. Press the lock button on the remote. The locks should do a lock-unlock cycle. 13. Close the door 14. Press the lock button on the remote, the doors should lock. 15. Press unlock button and the doors should unlock. before it gets successfully programmed, you may hear a 10-second long beep which did take me by surprise! I thought I was in big trouble but all is good. |
