fuel guage broke
I have a 94' fleetwood brougham and the digital fuel guage has not worked since I bought it months ago. It always reads full....( I wish) LOL But I want to fix it, and I heard its something thats broken inside the gas tank. So before I drop the tank, I'm looking for alittle direction. caddy.jpg

Re: fuel guage broke
Sounds like sending unit is bad.Had same problem with a 94' Olds 98.You may as well replace fuel pump too as you will have to drop the fuel tank.It is not that tough of a job, being as you are in Arizona and cars don't get under body rust like they do in Michigan!.Tank mounting bolts should come off easy.Good luck...Diesel1962

Re: fuel guage broke
So there is a sending unit that sends a signal to the digital guage in the dash cluster ? And it has a few year old hi performance fuel pump . It has 5.7 LT1 with the chip...all polution control crap along with cats on the exhaust is gone...aftermarket CPU for all that...373 gears in the posi rear end...and much more.

Re: fuel guage broke
Ok,So that's a rear drive Caddy? I don't know if fuel pump would be in the tank.May be mounted on the frame rail somewhere. But anyway,The sending unit is inside the tank. You may want to check the wires going to the fuel tank. You may get lucky and find a bad ground or hot wire.Nice car,I am currently fixing a 1978 Eldorado.Got the car cheap with 66,000 miles in it.Let me know how thing's go..Diesel1962

Re: fuel guage broke
I will let you know what I find out about the fuel gage. I had to wait on looking into fixing that because I had a tire go bad on me . Those pirelli 24''x10'' are so much money. $247.00 for one. And now my drivers side power window motor went. So now I need to dig into that. Where can I get a motor cheap ? Man I hate doing those motors...such a pain.

Re: fuel guage broke
Hey,I do not think repairing the window would be too bad.You buy the regulator as one unit,I did a few on Oldsmobile 98's and it was not that hard.I would look at the fuel gauge problem first. It sucks running out of gas!!.Got my Eldorado on the road, put new axle shaft in it,now gonna do some engine tuning.Let me know what happens....Diesel1962...
