Considering buying a 2000 Malibu with a few problems, is it worth it?
My dad is considering buying a 2000 chevy Malibu from a friend in a financial bind. He could get the car for $800. This car would be replacing my 99 Ford Taurus that has more problems than I care to list. But the car has a few problems. I want to know if it is worth spending the $800 and whatever it takes to fix it or should we just stick with the Taurus?
The seller says that the Malibu ocassionally won't start. He claims that it is a problem with the fuel pressure sensor and says that if you disconnect the battery for a moment, the car will then start with no problem. The driver side window will not roll up and one of the small rear windows (opera window?) needs to be replaced. Is this car worth $800? |

What engine does it have? How many miles? I don't know about a fuel pressure sensor. The fuel pressure regulator is controlled by vacuum. The window problem can be fixed with a new window regulator, or maybe it's just a bad switch. Cars that are 11 years old will have issues.
