MSD Opti-Spark Quick Fix
The other day I got a code 36 for the High-Resolution pulses in the distributor. Here's how it went. Tore down the 94 LT1 Z28 to pull the Opti off. Drain water, belt, power steering, water pump, crank pulley. Loads of fun.

Bearing was out, I think washed out by invading engine oil from leaking intake and distributor seals, among others. Did intake the next morning. Was easy. Here's some idea how to do this. Saved hundreds of $$$ over buying a new Opti. Trip to the local IBT Put the bearing in. The Drive Hub. The Reluctor. The Shielding. And the Rotor. And there you have it! Simple fix for code 36. I figure the bearing being a little loose (REAL bad) had the reluctor and pick-up out of phase. Tapped in a new set of the three seals in the timing cover while I was in there. Job was easily done on a set of ramps. Runs for now but "Might Shut Down" at any time. Good Luck! Here's the link to pics. Can't seem to get them up. http://www.flickr.com/photos/58835151@N02/
