Whats the difference?!?!?!!?
WOW no one has touch this forum for a good 'O' while. Anyways... i was wondering if anyone can tell me what the differences are in the SC300 and the SC400.
I realy like this car and im thinking about getting one. im thinking of the latest model of corst. I liked the design of this car for a while now, and i have never seen a fixed up one till just the other day, and man was it sweet to look at. had a kit on with exahus everything even a cute girl in the pasger side too... but back to my point. anyone know the power this car has, im guessing the SC400 is a v8 or something so mods will be near non-existance. just guessing... but if anyone knowes anything about the car that i should be aware of please let me know... not planing on buying it anytime soon so any info would be a plus... THANKX EVERYONE!!!! :sun: :flash:

SC300- 3.0L, I6(2JZGE), RWD, 220hp. Most are auto tranny but a 5 spd was available.
SC400- 4.0L, V8(1UZFE), RWD, 250hp. Available only in auto, auto and auto. Stock for stock, the SC400 would be the better choice. If you are planning to upgrade, the SC300 would be the way to go. Of course, the same engine as the NA Supra MKIV. Check out www.clublexus.com I'm planning on getting one too but not anytime this year.

There are actualy plenty of mods avliable for both engines.
The SC300 will happily take a TwinTurbo set up from a Supra, or any of the single Turbo conversions will bolt on. Its a very common swap in Japan, and a great way to gain lots of HP. The SC400 has even more options avlaible, from conversions to single carb, or Twin Turbo or Supercharging. And a conversion to a 5sp Supra box is also easily done. The V8 has become a very popular choice with many Hot Rodders in the US, and so a huge supply of after market parts has sprung up in the last few years. The engines are cheap and esily imported from Japan, have a friendly and easily remapped ECU, and a very strong bottom end. They take well to a bit of boost, or even a cam swap. And 400hp is easily achieved with out opening the engine up. Have a look at any popular Hotrod magazine for parts.

Moppie, would you some links to these aftermarket parts for the SC400? I'm interested in buying a SC400 soon.

I don't live in the states so can't really help you. But $20 worth of magazines should turn up plenty of aftermarket suppliers.

where did you get that idea??
To the member who said there's a lot of V8 options for a SC400, have you seen these options anywhere?
I am a owner of an SC400, member of clublexus.com and SC-400.com and the biggest gripe is the lack of options for this car. All SC300 owners taunt us to sell and convert to tha darkside and buy a 300 and twinturbo it. I'd rather believe you, but my daily search for more HP has not yet availed much more than the obvious. exhaust, headers, torque converter, Apex S-AFC, ECU upgrade and interchangeable supra supsension. That's it. Only 2 SC400's have been noted and documented to have had custom twin turbo set up's fabbed by MechTech in Cali. If you have any websites, vendor or shop names or contacts that provide more than 5 options above that have only 1 or 2 suppliers of each, please post. NAZTY97 ( Normally AZpirated The Year 97 - thus the non-turbo V8 ) |
