speedo went nuts
Greetings...........I have a 05 TB and as I was driving my speedo went nuts, it shot up to 100mph and stayed there. Now when I come to a stop the needle goes to the 100mph mark and stays there and when I accelerate It goes to the neutral mark. Its an analog gauge does it have a cable or is it gears?

Re: speedo went nuts
Usually caused by the stepper motor in the speed head, all electronic unit.

Re: speedo went nuts
I would assume this involves removing the speedo cluster from the dash to gain access?

Re: speedo went nuts
Correct, then the head must be taken apart to replace the stepper.

Re: speedo went nuts
But if you can solder, it's a quick job. Bad design of the early steppers, but Ebay vendors have 'em for $5 of $6 each plus shipping. Recommend replacing all six if you don't want to go back in there again.
