Pcm
I have a Trans Sport 3.8L 1992
And I inserted a PCM from a 1993 (the orginal broke), and now he complains that EGR valve is wrong, I can accept it because my engine has no EGR valve. I have heard that you can put a resistor or something so PCM think it is ok, or can you take the E-prom from the old one if it not broken? Regards //Stocken |

Re: Pcm
The test for EGR is done 2 ways: first, there is the electrical status that checks if voltages at EGR valve solenoids are correct. This could be faked with resistors...but then the 1992 connectors to EGR may not exist ...but if resistors can be installed, then it would fake the presence of the EGR solenoids. From mine, I think remembering the solenoids values were 24ohms for the 2 smaller valves, and 12 ohms for the larger valve. WIll verify .
But there is a second way the computer uses to check EGR operation: in stable conditions when TCC if not energized, the PCM energises sequentially the EGR solenoids and wants to detect a slight change in RPM when the EGR is trigged on and off. If the change is not detected, as would be the case with fake solenoids, it trigs a code.....

Re: Pcm
Take the MEM-CAL( Memory - Calibration ) Chip from the 1992 PCM and install it in the new PCM.. All 1993's are programmed for the EGR valve... The 1992's were not programmed for them as they did not have them..
So go ahead and install the chip from the old computer into the new one.. |
