Lumina sputtering

My 1991 Lumina Euro sputters at idle and during acceleration and then all of a sudenly it runs fine. Untill I stop or slow down a lot and then it begins to sputter again and during acceleration and again all of a sudden it runs just fine.
Any ideas?

Re: Lumina sputtering

Welcome to AF, many things can cause this, low fuel pressure, bad plugs, wires, coil pack. These are some things to check out.

Re: Lumina sputtering

For my lumina it was the coil pack.

Re: Lumina sputtering

I'm right in the middle of this. My old 91 started to sputter and search for idle
at a stop. Now it won't run at all, but thanks to members here I've been getting
some great tips and advise on finding the prob. Once I do find and cure this,
I'll be happy to share what I found and what I had to do to get it right.

Life's too short and I don't want to spend it working on some old car..

How did you determine that the coil pack was the problem?
