93 Lumina Z34 Battery went dead now car will not stay running
Ok went today and the battery was dead. So I jumped it and it started fine. Pulled out of the driveway made a hard right turn stalled. Started it back up went down the road got some gas went to make a left car stalled. driving down the road took my foot off the gas to coast rpms dropped car stalled. Starts right back up goto turn in my driveway car stalls. If I keep my foot on the gas it will stay running if I take it off it just idles out. WTH is up? There is kind of a hissing noise under the car hood. Please help its quite heavy to push and I have to goto work in a couple hours.

Try to see if there is any vacuum hoses popped off and sucking air...a big vacuum leak will cause idle stalling. May be the sound you hear. Look close around the throttle body and the brake booster supply hose. if you had any intake backfire while trying to start it, where it huffs back after an aborted start, this is common.
Otherwise, I'd say the idle memory is blown from having the battery go dead. This makes them stall and surge and act weird too. It will recover after being driven for a while if this is it. If the alternator is dragging, you might be hearing the belt straining to cope with that. Why did the battery run down?

Re: 93 Lumina Z34 Battery went dead now car will not stay running
You know thats a good idea. I think its the battery the alternator puts out 13.8 volts at full load on it and charges the battery rapidly. I think there is something wrong with the battery. I am pulling it out tomorrow and having it tested. It maybe it didn't have it idle reset as I didn't even drive it 5 miles. It was weird the first time the battery went dead. I charged it and started it. It was weird as well its was like this massive air valve slowly closed and the car started running fine. I mean it was like a giant vacuum leak that just went away somewhere under the air intake. I never heard it again and haven't heard it this time. I will put the new battery in then give it a good drive before I assess something is more wrong.

You've hopefully solved your problem by now. It seems whenever I disconnect my battery on my 93 3.1 liter the ilde rpm drops and I have to use an allen wrench to adjust the idle a little higher. It might not be the best or "right" approach but it makes my wife happier.
