Bizzaro problem-clock on all the time
Ok here's the setup: 99 Lumina 9c6 car ex FDNY personal vehicle. Had all the lights and trimmings but no holes chopped in it. Has the factory AM/FM stereo, no tape or CD. Radio does not function in acc. position but works fine other than that and clock does not go out, on all the time. Other than that, it functions ok. Pulled fuse for the radio and clock did not go out. Car has SEO accessory package. Could the fuse for that be back powering the clock? Don't really need a dead battery after a few days. Any ideas??? Thanks in advance.

Remove fuses one at a time to find the one feeding it. Unfortunately, with an SEO vehicle, there is no predicting what might have been done to it by outfitters.

Re: Bizzaro problem-clock on all the time
Ok, went through the fuses and found out the fuse for the instrument panel (I/P) was the one that made the clock go out. But it also deaded the gauges and warning lights. So I'm guessing they may have tapped a power line or something into the line for the gauges and that's what's backpowering the clock. Time to start tracing and digging.

Re: Bizzaro problem-clock on all the time
The I/P fuse should only have power through the ignition switch. One possibility is Fuse 7 (a 5A). It is supposed to power the SEO accessory switch panel, which ties into the I/P power and speedo. There is also a diode which isolates the SEO Accessory Switch module from the interior lighting circuit (which is powered all the time), and may back-feed the I/P and other circuits if the diode is shorted. Pull the interior lamps fuse to find out.

Re: Bizzaro problem-clock on all the time
Ok, update. I have tried pulling every possible fuse and no result. I'm beginning to think it's the radio. There are no more splices left and the harness is clean. Any ideas?

Re: Bizzaro problem-clock on all the time
The factory radio has a feature where you can push in a button when the car is off so it will display the clock for you. I believe it's the volume knob but I'm not 100% sure. It may be stuck in the depressed position keeping the clock displayed at all times. Try pushing and pulling on all teh radio buttons/knobs and see if the clock display goes out. The clock and station memory functions of the radio have power all the time, and are powered through the same fuse as the cigarette lighter if I remember correctly.
