92 aerostar no power
92 aerostar died today.. it starts with jumpers. bat read 12.4 and when i take off the jumpers bat/alt reads 14.50v. then I turn off totally dead..
i replaced battery termarials and battery.. when i put on the neg term the van tries to start without a key.. please advise.. i'm lost.. |

I would suspect the ignition switch or an ignition relay is stuck. Pull the small wire to the solenoid check if the power turns on and off when turning the key on and off. If it doesn't check at the parts store for these items. Look at them normally the ignition switch is on the steering column close to the bracket where it bolts to the dash. If it has a relay find this and unplug it and check if this solves the problem. Then check the power coming from the ignition switch and make sure its correct before replacing.
By visually looking at them it makes them easier to find. |
