94 camry replacement antenna static on one station
Any tricks to replacing the antenna on a 94 camry as I now have static on one station but not the others. I took out the motorized one when it broke and replaced with the single screw in mast. I pulled it apart at the end where it connects to the car harness and I pushed it back together and put electrical tape on it. It is screwed in secure to both the car and its threaded base. Would electronic grease help in this case??

Re: 94 camry replacement antenna static on one station
There are no tricks that I know of, but if you are talking about the power antenna mast, you can get an aftermarket replacement one at Pep Boys for around $20. It's much cheaper than the mast at the dealer and it's usually the mast that goes, not the motor. It might work better if that's what the car was designed for. They are very easy to install. Just remove the ring around the antenna base (I found a retaining ring pliers works well for this) and then have someone turn the radio on while you are back by the antenna. Be prepared to catch the mast as it is being pushed up and out of the base area. Make note of the direction of the nylon teeth on the bottom of the mast. They come out and go back in only one way. Insert the teeth of the replacement mast back in to the base area and then have the other person turn the radio off. This will grab the nylon teeth on the new mast and pull it back in. Simply screw the ring back on to the base and you are done. This of course assumes that the power motor portion of the antenna still works.
