Transmission Swap
Hello all, I am going to do a transmission swap from an automatic to a manual. I plan to use parts from the v6 1986 firebird and put them in my v8 350 firebird trans am. I am concerned that the bolt patterns wont be the same on the transmisions. Does anybody now if they are the same and will there be any other problems besides that? thanks in advance-drew

Re: Transmission Swap
yes you will need new tranny a tranny from the v6 wont fit the v8 and make sure you get the peddles lines and clutch u will need everything. me and my brother swapped his engine from the v6 to v8 in his 87 firebird and it did not line up.

Re: Transmission Swap
No the V6 manual trans won't bolt up to a V8, not only that, but even if it did bolt up that trans would last for MAYBE one good launch before it scattered itself all over the ground.

Re: Transmission Swap
Are there lots of different bolt patterns for a 350? I have a 1975 Corvette an automatic that I would like to put a T-5 or T-56 into. I can pick up a late model, 199? Camaro or Firebird for not much money and steal parts, but want the engine and bellhousing to bolt up. Will this work? Does anyone know of a web site that matches parts? Or is it best to just ask the experts on the forum?
