Why doent it start

I have a 1990 Audi 80.. I bought it with no timing belt on it so that was the first issue to fix.. I have the thing timed, its getting fuel pumped to it, its getting air, and it has one hell of a spark.. BUT IT WONT START!!!.. Im also noticing that as soon as I try to start it the things Reaks of gasoline, and I know 100% there is no fuel leak.. someone please help, i know nothing about audis..

First of all, You didn't mention whether or not it's 4 or 5 cylinder. Let me know and we can go from there!
