Guess my Horsepower?
Ok been a bit since I last made a topic on here (a month or so) but many of you know about my 91 TSi I bought from a older gent (actually a even up trade for a 89 ranger)
Anyway the motor dropped a valve and I have torn it down and got new pistons ect... but I am waiting on it to warm up to get it back togather. I have never had the car running or drove it but I was wondering about its horse power. Its a 91 TSi automatic AWD. It has a 16G turbo, some kinda aftermarket BOV, and a 3" complete katback system. The motor will be a freash rebuild when done. Anyone have any kinda idea what kind of HP its making in its current state. Sorry I can be much more spacific on the mods but the guy didnt tell me alot. |

And my mental dyno says...

Ah... Well there ya have it then... lol Actually it will just be running stock boost with that 16g unless there is a MBC also that you can turn it up with. So I am going to safely say that it will only be in the 215ish hp range because the 3" exhaust will open it up a bit better to breath... Get some 550cc injectors, AFC, and MBC and then you can turn up your boost a bit and run some more power out of it... Of course there is no definite way to determine the horsepower of a rebuilt motor until it is properly broke in and actually dynoed... There are too many factors involved to make an exact guesstimate.

Re: Guess my Horsepower?
Yea it might perform like a car which has 215 to the crank. But to all wheels I'm guessing no more than 160.

Re: Guess my Horsepower?
Well, if anyones got anything to contribute then by all means do it, but we dont need a flame war or 14 more people telling him the same "we dont know" and "stop bench racing" things over and over. The bottom line is we've only got a rough ballpark estimate and if he really wants to know he should have it dynoed.
