premium

hey i looked at the sticky thread and it didnt answer my question so heregoes... my car says that it needs premium gas. i know that can cause problems with using regular gas but came across some of these octane boosters. how well do these work, i dont need like a performance boost, just to compensate because it is cheaper to add the octane yourself with a booster but dont know how it really compares to premium gas. thanks.

Re: premium

If I recall correctly, a bottle of octane booster will raise the octane content of a tank of fuel by around .5. Just buy premium.

Re: premium

Yep. Those bottles don't work, period. You would have to add so many of those bottles that your out-of-pocket expense would be way more than just buying premium.

If you do the math, its not that bad. It probably accounts for only about a $200 difference in yearly gas expense.
