Cig lighter question
My cigarette lighter socket is very annoying! Anytime I plug a charger into it, the light on the charger stays on for a few seconds then goes out. Whenever I move the ashtray in or out the light will flicker. This becomes a PITA when trying to charge a low phone battery. I have to sit the phone in one spot and not move it. If I reach around behind the lighter plug and jiggle the wires the light will come on, so I think that I'm dealing with a loose wire. I'm just wondering what I should be looking for back there...how do I go about getting a nice tight connection with this? I have yet to look back there, but I feel what I believe to be a lot of electrical tape. Is this supposed to be there?

Re: Cig lighter question
You will want to pull off the connector to look for corrosion, and a tight fit. You will also want to inspect where the wires enter the connector. Also make sure the socket itself is not corroded. If you are, or the previous owner is a smoker, this may very well be.
