I hope we do a 67' or so fastback... There are tons of parts, OEM, and stuff so it will be easy. I get to pick up the suburban today and put it back togther today and tomorrow..

Get a nice muscle car, and I think there are too many stangs out there. Teh Camaro is good, but if you can find the parts, and AMX is original. How about a Charger R/T with the 426 hemi. That is awesome! A fastback of anything is better than stock, too.

Definately one of the chrysler wing cars, or a 68 hemi charger.
Cuda's are nice but of all the muscle mopes I cant think of one that has
a reputation for rusting faster.

You could make a 67 Camaro Z28. The 302 is just a 350 with a 283 crank. Those cars are AMAZING! 56 Nomads are neat because they are rare.

Be different! Of all the car shows I participate in you see the same old cars! Here are some that aren't seen or hardly ever seen, at least for me.

1968-1970 AMC Javelin or AMX (343-390 CID w/4-spd)
1965-1968 Barracuda (2-door coup or fastback are neat looking)
1967 Mercury Cyclone
1967-1969 Mercury Cougar (Tons of Mustangs out there, where are the Cougars?)
1965-1969 Chevy Corvairs (Don't laugh! With the turbo they kicked butt. The "Corsa" models were great vehicles and V8 conversions are easy. Wake the heck out of the Vettes when you cut loose!)
1974 Pontiac Trans Am (Even Pontiac admits that 74 was the best Trans Am they made w/the 455 CID)
1969or1970 AMC "Scrambler" in the original red, white n' blue

A friend just finished restoring a 57 Buick 2-door coupe. It's a great looking vehicle even when sitting next to the Tri-55's!

The Mercury Cougars were a nicer vehicle than the Mustangs. With a Big-Block they could MOVE!!! Prices on Cougars may start to go up soon. They may match Mustangs in time if they catch on.

The Big Block early Cudas were real strip burners! They were much lighter than the larger/heavier Chargers.

My neighbor has a 68 cougar with the 289 and auto. REally nice, was once offered 20 grand cash (Canadian) for it.

I agree, get something original.

PS: A word of caution, to original, and it may be hard to find parts.

Very true for many of the musclecar from the 60's. A Cougar would be a good choice since the chassis and drivetrain can be Ford or Merc.

I personally like the AMC Javelin or better yet the AMX. But parts are rare and getting pricey. But they both are mean looking machines that you just don't see anymore! I still see some of the 1971-74 examples around but they are not the same as the 1968-70 versions.

A AMC Gremlin with a V8 is a fast machine. I've seen a few restored and 1/4 milers at the car shows. A drag Gremlin is quite unique to see.

Nothing wrong with a 60's Firebird. If you can find a 69-70 Charger, there is a company out there that makes a body kit to transform the charger into a look-a-like Daytona or Superbird. Nose, wing and some other goodies all by UPS.

For the common musclecars, there are many places that offer fiberglass body parts. That wouldn't be bad and it is less expensive to replace rusted front parts with a complete fiberglass one.
