1984 F350 Ignition switch
It had been sitting for about 2 years and I think someone had broken into it and tried to start it. The key does'nt fit into ignition switch easily. My real question is how does the ignition switch come out? I can get ignition to accept the key but not easily. Thanks, guys(and gals)

Try lubricating the lock.

Re: 1984 F350 Ignition switch
KimMG: I did try lubricating the lock, and while the key goes in a little easier, the ignition won't turn. It's like I'm putting in a key for a differnt Ford vehicle and I'm not. The key right next to it on the ring opens the doors on the truck and the last time I used it the keys were next to each other and nobody has touched those keys but me. I'm just thinking it would be easier to replace the ignition and be done with it. I don't want to have to hot wire this vehicle in order to use it. Any ideas how to remove the ignition switch? Thanks!

Re: 1984 F350 Ignition switch
You can purchase new tumblers at a parts store but ford seems to last longer.
The steering wheel has to be pulled for axcess. Disconnect the battery ground before starting. |
