Window/Lock Buttons haywire

My wife's 2000 Jetta has developed an electrical problem. Her drivers side window controls stopped working altogether. The door lock buttons stopped working on the same panel, and her drivers side mirror control started unlocking the doors but not doing anything to the mirrors.

I then took the door apart and disconnected/reconnected wiring harnesses. Something caused two of the window buttons to start working, but everything else is still the same. I have no problem making any electrical repairs if I just knew what to replace or fix. I have no wiring diagrams.

Any suggestions or similar experiences? I have a feeling the VW dealership would charge ridiculous money to fix this. Would a cheaper repair shop even be able to do this?
