DSM Forum Rules and Regulations *READ*

***RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR THE ECLIPSE/TALON/LASER FORUM***

Being new mods, Blackcrow and I saw need for an update and reorganization to the rules. The other Moderators and I wrote, talked, and rewrote the rules for clarification and to address new issues. They are as follows.

I. Spamming and Post Whoring - Spamming and post whoring is defined as posting that adds nothing to the thread and threads with no topic or purpose; this includes bench racing and unapproved advertisements! Such examples are short posts with no explantion such as, "Yeah me too!" and "PM sent." In short, if you have nothing to add to the topic of the thread at hand, dont post. This goes double for threads over a month old, dont resurrect threads older than one month unless you are the thread starter giving and update. Be sure to keep technical threads on topic and Classifieds threads only pertaining to the item(s) for sale, we have an Off Topic section for general chatting. Remember guys post count doesnt mean anything.

II. Bashing and Flaming - "Attack the message, not the messenger. Criticize the ideas, not the people. Flaming will not be tolerated in the forums." -TS. Exactly what we are after. It is perfectly fine to not agree with another member and to argue your point, but its completely different to get offended and personally insult the other member. Bashing/flaming can be anything personally offensive toward another. Some prime examples are violent language, discriminatory language, or attacking someone personally, racially, ethnicly, religiously, and/or based on gender. Respect each other guys, if you have a bone to pick with anyone (moderator or normal member), take it to PM's.

III. Spelling, Punctuation, Grammar, and General English Usage - We understand that not everyone is an English major and that not everyone will always have grammatically perfect posts. However we do require that you use at least basic English skills. Giant run on sentances, over use of abbreviations, no punctuation, all or alternating capitals, and lazy spelling will not be tolerated. Remember, other members will be able to give you a better and more accurate answer to you question if they can understand what your are asking in the first place.

IV. Content - Basically, keep your threads, signatures, and posts clean. Same rules as flaming/bashing, keep potentially offensive material out of your posts, threads, and signatures. We are not your mothers and we are not going to suppress swear words, just use them within reason.

V. Subforums - We are foruntate enough to have subforums so lets use them! Definitions of what goes in each subforum are as follows:

AF Project Eclipse - Discussion on the Automotive Forums project Eclipse.

Interior/Exterior/Audio-Visual - Any thread that deals with interior, exterior, and audio/visual questions, modifications, and/or repairs

Classifieds - Any thread thats main purpose is to buy or sell an item relating to DSM's.

Performance - All threads related to any aspect of performance of your car whether it be speed, handling, braking, etc.

Problem Diagnosis - Cant figure out what is wrong? Put it here.

Tech Articles and Writeups - The name is pretty self explanitory. Read subforum's Rules before posting!

Videos - Have a funny/interesting video to show to your DSM bretherin? Post it here. Videos are not limited to solely DSM Videos, just remember, keep it clean.

Main Forum - For all threads not car related.

VI. Searching - Before you post a thread, you are expected to search for an answer first. Many times the question has been answered and cutting down on unnecessary threads like these will cut down on the clutter of our forum. A quick search of this forum and sites listed in the FAQ sticky in the main forum is expected.

VII. Signatures - As outined by the AF Userguidelines, signatures must not contain any more than a total of two pictures or quotes. This means two pictures 400x150, a picture and a quote, or two quotes would be acceptable. It is strongly recommended that you also put your car year, make, model, trim, and modifications so other members can better answer your questions.

Violations - Violations of these rules will result in warnings, edits, thread locks/deletes/moves, temporary bans, and permanent bannings at the moderators discretion.
