a/c compressor

I have a 98 ranger 2.5l manual.

My a/c compressor squeaks. I was wondering how easy can I take it out if at all possible. And will it give me a horsepower gain?

thanx

Re: a/c compressor

Why not just get it fixed? Otherwise maybe just a shorter belt not routed over the compressor pulley.
