SR20DET TIMING - Which CAS mark? Which is #1 cylinder? Do i Time off of #1?

ok i tried the technical section mod... no replys. so please keep it here for a day please. thank you. anyway....

sr20 still running like poop.... now i think im down to timing issues... k here goes my question... From the the left side of the car, looking right at the Cam Angle Sensor while its in the engine with the cam cover off... which mark next to the gear do i line up with the other mark on the casing? the one on the left or the one right next to it on the right? right now i have the left mark lined up with the mark on the casing with the needle on the crank case lined up with the 2nd from the left mark on the crank pulley (0 degrees tdc?) Also when timing to 15 degrees btdc..i go from the cylinder all the way in front... is that right? also. since it has coil packs.. im jumping a regular spark plug wire front the coil pack to the spark plug..that way i can use my timing light. is that ok or will that mess somthin up? thanks guys

I just moved it in there today...

I'll leave it here for now. Tomorrow, I'll replace the one in there currently with this one.

I've gone by the notch on the crank, I'm not sure what marks on the cam gears to look at. But the second notch should be TDC.
Best way is to remove spark plug, and put a long extention or similar down into the cylinder. Then turn the crank until the stick goes all the way up and start coming down, the highest point is TDC. Then compare how the notches line up on the crank.

You shouldn't need an extention for the coil pack. Just clamp your timing gun over the wire going into the coil...

and yes this is all on Cylinder 1 (closest to the front)
