Just bought a '93 XL - Have several questions

My room-mate and I needed a van to move us, our stuff, and pets from FL to CA, and the winner in our price range was a '93 Aerostar XL which I picked up from a private seller for $800.

It runs, though when it's at idle it sounds as if it could use a tuneup. Otherwise it runs great and shifts smoothly. Not bad for nearly 175,000 miles. However, it has some problems which I'd like to get corrected.

1) I have the standard dash with speedometer, digital odometer, oil pres., temp, anhmeter, and fuel. Only the speedometer and the odometer work. All gauges except for the anhmeter are stuck in place like they were frozen with the van on. The ahnmeter is reading less than 8 volts, as if the van was off. None of the gauges except the speedometer and odometer have moved since I bought the van. What could cause this? I'm thinking it might be a fuse. If so, which one? I have no manual, and the van has no fuse panel cover with a diagram, so try to describe which one it is.

2) The power windows are for the most part ok, if a bit slow in going up and down, but the passenger window has problems going down unassisted. They both roll up fine. What could cause this?

3) The van had no radio when I bought it. Since I love music when I drive, I had to add one. I don't need anything fancy or overly complex, so I checked the local junkyard and picked up a factory am/fm/cassette radio from a '92 Aerostar. I conviently forgot when i was at the junkyard that the radio harness in my van has been cut. Where there would be 2 connectors, there is only 1. (The antenna connector is still there.) I returned to the junkyard and pulled the harness out of the same van I got the radio from, getting as much spare length as I could. I managed to get nearly a foot worth. Will there be any problems if I just splice color to color from the harness in my van onto the yunkyard harness?

4) The rear wiper does not work. Which fuse would control it?

5) How do I lower/raise the spare tire that is stowed under the van?

6) What viscosity of engine oil is recommended for the '93 3.0L V-6?

Thanks!

B) Your window motor is worn out.It takes more effort to "roll" down
then to "crank"up.

C) You won't have a problem as long as colors match exactly.

4) The rear wiper does not work. Which fuse would control it?

D) According to my '94 manual it's controlled by a 4.5 Circuit breaker.

5) How do I lower/raise the spare tire that is stowed under the van?

E) Insert lug wrench into actuator hole & turn counterclockwise.
The place is in carpet about center of rear of van.

6) What viscosity of engine oil is recommended for the '93 3.0L V-6?

F) I would suggest with the mileage you have 20w50
Ford calls for ESE-M2C153-E their specs.

Thanks!

Hope this helps some.

sticking windows

a little soap on the window edge or the rubber boot it slides in will help ease the window movement.
