lumina steering
hey guys i am new to this board but was refered to you by a friend. i am planing on buying a 97 lumina with 203,000 miles for 750. the miles were all highway and it runs like it just came off the factory . it has one problem.. the power steering doesnt work at all........it holds fluid and doesnt have any leaks. can any of you help me out with this? i am thinking i will have to replace the whole ps box..... thanx guys for the help

hmmmmm, seems to me I remember someone telling me that certain year luminas had a recall on the power steering. Maybe start there. And maybe check to make sure the pump is operating. It must not be siezed up because it would cause the belt to break, and you'ld lose everything since its all on that one belt. But my first guess is the pump itself.

is it possible that it could be the rack and pinion? and also how hard is it to put the box in...
