91 s-10, speedometer quit, fuse blowing
I have a 91 Chevy s-10, with 4.3L and a 5 speed. 2WD
Vehicle has started blowing fuses to directional signals, horn and radio. Also, the speedometer quit at the same time. I have checked all grounds, taken the electronic dash out and checked and replaced vehicle speed sensor. Have directional signals back and horn and radio. Still no speedometer. Any thoughts? Alan |

Re: 91 s-10, speedometer quit, fuse blowing
at the tail end of the transmission there is a wire clip, that is the sensor for the speedometer check the connection for corosion and clean, if that is ok check the wires for breaks, if ok then replace the sensor in the transmission

My speedo on my 91 blazer 4X4 has been out for 3 years lol. I checked the wires..all good. I checked and replaced (twice) the VSS. Still no speedo. I am now thinkin bout buying a speed buffer. The VSS sends its signal to the speed buffer which tells the cpu at what speed your traveling and with what size tires. Good luck however finding one of these aftermarket lol!! I have found NOONE who sells speed buffers. I have found speed callibrators but those still plug into the buffer and if its bad (the buffer) then the callibrator is worthless. If any1 knows where I can get 1 LOL PLEASE tell me lol. I REALLY dont want to call chevy. $$$$$$$.
