2001 CR-V Radio Code

Being a new to me CRV owner I have a question about the radio codes. I want to install a headblock heater and that requires disconnecting the battery. Will it be necessary for me to have the radio serial number, or is there some way around this process? Does the code process apply to all years and models? Thanks

Only if the radio has an anti-theft feature. You will see a red LED flashing when the car is off.

Nope, mine is just a plain old LX. We do have an '04 with all the bells and whistles but we do have the code for that one since we bought the car new. The '01 was bought used, but we still like it ... even though there is a vast difference between the two. Thanks again.
