tell me which alarm you recommend please!

well i've been spending a bunch of money trying to hook my ride up, but i over looked the fact that if i get it stolen, then i'm just out of luck. so my next investment is an expensive alarm. any advice on a good one? i want one with auto door locks, auto start (that can start a manual trans), 2 stage alarm (one with a warning chirp before the alarm sounds) I'm sure what i'm looking for is pretty common. so i just need some input on the best and how much i should be spending on it. cause i don't want to be spending $500 on an alarm that does the same thing as a $200 alarm. if it matters i have a 96 civic. thanks for the help!

yeah... an alarm is always good... but here's an additional little touch my dad told me about. he told me it was better than an alarm (he used to have this on his 67 plymouth gtx).
get a shop to install a shut off valve (just a little simple on you can flip with a switch) into the fuel line. Hide the switch under the carpet or someplace not obvious, and flip it everytime you get out somewhere you think your car might run the risk of getting stolen. The valve shouldn't cost too much, but you'll have to look around for them - they mainly do this to big rigs and such these days. Try a place that sells parts for those.
Good luck.

I have a basic Avital Hurricane (old!). I had it installed for about $200+.
It's upgradeable... You know, the channels & stuff... I have yet to make use of them...

You could also do this:
Making a starter kill-switch
... and, you could also Re-route the hood release cable for added security of your engine bay.

well if you get either one of those (the fuel cut off or start kill switch) you won't have to worry about your car being stolen (unless they somehow find the switches, but they're going to be hidden right?) so I don't think you have to worry about your car getting stolen. But you should still get one if you want to keep your goods intact. I've heard good things about Clifford Alarms (I don't know if they make them anymore) but you should check it out.

I got the Viper 300esp on my integra....its got the dual stage chirp and siren, proximity sensor (chirps if anyone is within 1 foot of your car), dual stage shock sensor, engine disable, etc etc...u can also add the VW window roll-down option if u want among other options since it's upgradable....the only thing is it doesn't have a remote start...but i can live with that

i just bought the viper 800 and i love it. it has every option on it. when i bought it, it had the wrong price tag on it and i got it for $280 instead of $470.

it has:
window roll down/up
can pop the hood and trunk
hood protection
keyless entry
locks/unlocks doors with ignition
pager capability
dual shock sensor
starter kill
and a bunch of other stuff

like i said.....i love the alarm! but just remember...no matter what is on your car, if a thief wants it, they will take it.

good luck with your choice

compustar

I got the compustar, i don't know if you've heard of it, but it's an awsome alarm for the price! It's a pager remote starter alarm and it pages you whenever it goes off and gives you the visual confirmation that your car has started when you use the remote start function, it also has a whole bunch of other features and the new remotes that are coming out anytime now also vibrate...i got all this for $850 canadian installed, it's a difficult system to install, it took about 7 hours! This is probably the best system you can buy for your money, and it has all the features you could possibly need, all the door locks and when you get a turbo in there it also has a turbo timer function!
