truck comparison
i always liked trucks, i used to have a 99 ford ranger extra cab 4X4 5 spd with a 3.0 liter motor. it didnt have the 4.0 liter, and it didnt have much power, but i still liked it a lot.
these are the trucks that i wanna compare in all areas, like off road capability, reliability, power, steering feedback, and location of all the controls. all are ext cab, 4X4, manual or automatic, with top of the line motor. pretty much top of the line models for each one. ford ranger edge toyota tacoma chevy s10 zr1 |

well if ur comparing top of the line u should compare the ranger fx4... itll pretty much whoop the other two off roading. the ford and tacoma are pretty equal as for hauling/payload (tacoma has higher payload of 100lbs and ford pulls more by almost 300 lbs) but i dont agree with either of the specs... ill bet these trucks are about dead even. the ford is all around bigger... the ineterior is about the same in the front but the ford is larger in the extended cab (id get the toyota just to piss my friends off) IMO the ranger is better, ive driven both and the new rangers are pretty sick trucks.

if you wanna throw it into the comparison, go ahead.
anyone know 0-60, and 1/4 mile for those trucks? i think ford with a manual does low 8 sec to 60, and mid 16s to 1/4. |

the dakota r/t is the fastest but its a gas guzzler... i dont like the dakota cause its not great at off roading which in my opinion if you get a light truck its gotta have good off road capabilities otherwise you might as well get an f-150 or sumthin.

have you guys seen the new 05 tacoma test by car and driver? it did 60 mph in 7.4 sec, and the 1/4 in 16.1 sec. its the double cab, 4X4, 4.0 liter v6, with a 6 speed manual transmission. its engine has 245 hp at 5200 rpm, and 282 lb-ft at 3800 rpm.

But you made a critical error...it's not 4x4...it's 4x2 (RWD only) and manual only. Further more...you can also get a TRD Supercharger to bump the ponies up to 300HP (crank HP) Nice...they say it can pull 0.90 lateral G's and outlap a 350Z (hehe...I must scoff ever so slightly at that last part) But...really...I do like it. 18's baby! |
