Fluids?
So I'm about to do my first oil and trans fluid change on my 2001 atx. My question is, what oil, as well as other fluids do y'all reccomend?
And currently I run stock, but intend to intake/exhaust it in the next 3000-5000 miles. |

Re: Fluids?
5W30 for oil. I knew what trans fluid is best for us, but don't remember what it is right now. the beer is fogging my mind. Maybe I'll find it tomorrow..........

Re: Fluids?
On a 2001 a tranny fluid change is not needed, but if you were to do it use atf+4 from the dealership, its $7 a quart, I would just do an engine oil change and save the other money for your mods.

Re: Fluids?
i heard you can get atf 3 from autoparts stores, i have it in my manuals, and it works just fine. use 5w30 for oil, and try to find PEAK'S new antifreeze, it come in a golden botttle, it can be mixed with any antifreeze

Re: Fluids?
The only reason I am interested in the tranny fluid change is that I have 56,000 miles on it, and its started to darken. Just trying to br proactive about it. I broke my old car by putting this stuff off.

Re: Fluids?
If it's dark I would advise that you take it into a tranny shop and have it flushed. Doing it yourself you will only remove a few quarts of oil.
