Question dome light

98 Ranger interior dome light does not always turn off when driver door is closed. I am unable to locate switch in door frame area that usually is spring loaded button. Light eventually will turn off when times out. Thanks!

the switch is inside the door latch. they get dirty & stick. spray wd-40 inside door latch & it should solve problem for a couple of years unless you're in a dusty area.

I had the same problem with my Ford Ranger. I noticed that the metal latch, that the door latches on to, had a protective coating that had worn through. I taped it and the door ajar light began working fine. I also oiled it. I dont know which it was or if I was just lucky. Try it. I
hope it works for you.

Re: dome light

Thanks - I have recently used WD-40 on the latch and seems to be working properly now. Probably combination of lubricant and the warmer weather.
