2002 Ranger Edge Need White Bumper?
Just recently bought a 2002 Ranger Edge. White. Fog light on drivers side just fell off one day. Dealer said I have to buy a whole new front bumper because the previous owner must have broken the bracket that holds the Foglight in place. !!!!!
Who designs this crap? Anybody know if this is my only option? Are the bumpers available over the internet in Ford matching colors? Is it tough to remove/install? Thanks. Newbie ford owner. snowskiwv@hotmail.com |

you may want to see if you can make your own bracket. that would be alot cheaper than buying a whole new bumper - and may not be that hard either... ford just wants to make some more cash... can't blame them

I've spent some time underneath the truck studying the problem. :-)
Ford molded 3 tabs into the bumper for the FL assembly housing to attach to. There are some metal clips that go over the tabs (bracing? somthing for the screw to hold on to?) and then it just has a screw from the assembly housing into it. A cheap way to do it, but not a very DIY repairable one. I'm figuring up some way around it. As a model railroader I've got lots of plastic compatible glues and I've aquired several large blocks of plastic that could be tapped and a screw placed into them. A plan is being hatched. ;-) |

Re: 2002 Ranger Edge Need White Bumper?
"metal clips that go over the tabs" Lowe's Home Improvement about $3.00 for a packet of 10/15 in the hardware section. This may sound far fetched, but look at some door hinges or wall brackets for some ideas to modify your own bracket. No sense of spending 100+ for new bumber, when it could cost less.
You can also check out some scrap yards in your area. JB weld works wonders too... |
