GMC Sonoma alarm
The alarm on my 2002 Sonoma sets itself with two beeps of the horn about 30 seconds after the doors are closed, whether or not they are locked with the remote. Now whenever the door handles are tried, the alarm goes off, horn beeps, lights flash. Its a real pain. I'd like to shut the alarm totally off or at the very least stop the self-reset. There's nothing in the owner's manual about shutting it down. Anyone have any suggestions? thanx.....

Re: GMC Sonoma alarm
Hey lefty71, if you bought your truck new from GMC, you can verify if the dealers's aftermarket dept. installed a theft deterrent on your truck by checking with their service dpt. If that's the case you can have them remove the module and your prob. should be solved; they may charge you 45-80 bucks for labor. On the other hand if you bought it used and you don't know where the truck was initially sold, go to any GMC truck dealer and have the service advisor run a VIS, that will tell him where the truck was sold and you can contact them to find out if they added any aftermarket alarm. I think that would be the best route since Sonomas dont have a self activating alarm; hope this helps.
