replacing rear end, stuck on removing it on a 97 2.2
ok there's some steps i'm stuck on, first time messing with an axle
it says to disconnect brake hose from junction block on axle housing, i'm lost there and how i'm going to drop it out, there's also I believe a vent hose that is freakin glued (I imagion) near the drain plug a little above, and a parkin brake cable from actuating levers and backing plates? how do I get that hoe off?!?! i'm also scared about unbolting the axle from those slats/struts with that big bolt U assembly, after that it should just drop out right? also is there a tip removing the brake rear cable little back under driver side? the connector not the things I have to slide back ANY HELP IS MUCH APPRECIATED |

first off: the junction block is where the 2 brakelines from the backing plates join up with the line that goes up to the front.
diff vent should pull off, if not just cut it as close to the diff as possible. e-brake: these things are tricky first you have to remove the cable end from the lever what i do is pry the spring back and put small visegrips on the cable then you can work it loose, you'll probably have to remove the brake shoes too. as far as getting the cables through the backing plate there is no easy way one method that works fairly well is pushing the box end of a wrench over the line to compress the fingers that stick out while wiggling the cable back and forth usually you need to push a few in with a screwdriver too. yep after the driveshaft, lines, wires, cables are unhooked loosen the u-bolts and it'll drop right out those suckers can take a bit of work to remove without an air impact. but hey now you don't have to go to the gym. good luck |
