help with ignition control module
i Have a 89 cutlass calais that used to run great. That was until one day after pulling a friends car. After turning the car off it wouldnt start.I started it the next morning,it ran for five minutes then died and hasnt started since. I was told by a friend there was no spark and that it was the control module. Im no mechanic but im slowly learning. If anyone could tell me if this sounds like its the control module and where it is located that would be great.

Re: help with ignition control module
Welcome to AF, too vague here, if in fact there is no spark, several things can cause that including the crank sensor, pcm, ign. module, bad wiring connections, bad fuse. All these issues need to be checked by a competent tech.

Re: help with ignition control module
I understand that I may not be the most qualified person for the job but unfortunately im not in the position financially to take it to a mechanic. However I did have a friend who is a mechanic look at it and thats where I got the idea that it is the control module from. What Im hoping to get from here is a second opinion from experienced people. The control module is not a cheap part and anyone able to point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.
