1997 Aerostar code PO171
My aerostar sometimes has trouble starting (more so when it is warm), and also has code p0171. Are these linked in any way? Any solutions?

If you mean clear the code, yes I did that. Is there another thing to resetting the computer?

Re: 1997 Aerostar code PO171
Hey Lawertj,
Did you ever get your PO171 problem fixed on your 97 Aerostar? I realize it has been nearly a year since you posted. I have had the problem for over a year now. My van has almost 200,000 on it. I've replaced the entire exhaust system. I also replaced the cam position sensor, because it started making noise, but it didn't change the PO171 problem. The interesting thing is that if I drive it on the highway after resetting it, it never comes on. When my wife drives it the short 4 miles to work, it stalls on her if she has the heater fan on. I've asked in other forums, but your thread is the only one that has the exact thread name I'm looking for. I have had some suggestions of the EGR valve, or possibly the MAF sensor. I have replaced the MAF sensor some time back. Maybe it needs it again. |
