HELP! My booster pushrod is too long....

My wife's little 05 Scion xb started creeping forward at a stop. Brake pedal kept sinking. Bad master cylinder.

I got a DORMAN complete unit.(maybe my first mistake) Brand new with a new reservior. But after I bench bled it I found that the brake pushrod needed to be adjusted. However, even at maximum in the pushrod is still about 8mm too long.
Very odd.
Doesn't seem to be binding or anything.
My brain says to file/grind off the 8mm and go from there.
What do y'all think?
Am I overlooking something?
