Modifying VN

I am interested in modifying my standard V6 3.8L VN. I would like to get it to about 200-250 Kw. What would be the cheapest/easiest modifications to make to achieve this? How would a turbo go?

Re: Modifying VN

Upgrade your cam shafts, intakes, exhaust system, the computer chip and the turbo, you should pull over 190kw with all that, maybe more. I suggest a supercharger instead of the turbo, you don't want lag.

www.justcommodores.com.au ask them they will help you out.

Re: Modifying VN

cold air intake, pacemaker headers with 2.1/2 exhaust stage 3 cams for crow cams. good leads(top gun 10mm) spark slugs (champion gold) good oil (bp visco 5000) (v8 throttle body 68mm) ported heads (should be able to flow 450hp.) and if you through on a vertech supercharger running bout 8psi ur shore to make 250kw. i dnt no how the rest of the drive line will hold up tho

Re: Modifying VN

i would go for a full rebuild, with new gaskets, flowed heads, bigger cam, rockers, a new manifold because the stock ones can be restrictive. then go for a turbo, as said before with lag, dw. if u have it set up good with a good gearbox, converter and diff, ur lag issues will be sweet.but at the same time, lag can be fun when boost cumes on, u go sideways. when u choose exhaust thats up to u because i cnt be the judge of how u want it to sound. but if u wanna get a blower, i would suggst, a
-vortech (sidemount)
-CRS - they are good with the 3.8 litre v6's (side mount)
-powerdyne (sidemount)
-m90 (topmount ) lol, a try hard 6/71

cheers [PSI-EFI] i hope a 13 yr old can help u.
