70 challenger belt problem
My father-in-law, 78 years young, has restored the 70 challenger 440 six pack that he used to drag race decades ago. God bless him! :-) But he's having an issue he can't figure out, both the power steering and alternator belts are wearing out super fast, throwing belt debris all up on the underside of the hood, etc. He is sure they're not over or under tightened, the pulleys are in good shape and everything's lined up. He's tried a couple different sets/brands of belts, any ideas or advice that would help him out would be greatly appreciated, just like to see him enjoy his ride while he can without worrying about things. Thanks!

Re: 70 challenger belt problem
My first thoughts......BOTH BELTS? If so, I would suspect CRANKSHAFT pulley might be wobbling (even very slightly)
Because of its mounting surface, there's a possibility that it's not seated flat on the vib. damper. Worth checking😎😎😎 |

Re: 70 challenger belt problem
I owned an A12 69 Road Runner back in the day. Never had any belt issues. Check the for proper width and angle fitment of the belts. Also one wrong depth pulley can cause belt issues.
