Search Function in Forums?

I don't know what happened or why, but I could swear there used to be a simple, easy to find button on here that said something like "Search This Forum". Example: If I was in the Silverado forum and was looking for any info on a Transmission issue, I could easily query the word "Transmission" and pull up a list of any previous threads that had that word in them. Related specifically to the types of vehicles in that particular forum. I am not finding ANY search tool on here now, other that the Google search box, which looks out at the entire internet, not in the Automotive Forums category you are looking at.
Just above that, is a Search button that takes you out of the Forums altogether.
Maybe I am blind and just not seeing it? Please give this old man some help, thanks!

Re: Search Function in Forums?

On the main page, header, there is a small search box, next to "enhanced by Google "check that.

Re: Search Function in Forums?

I looked a couple days ago and it is gone. The enhanced by Google doesn't do anything. I do remember being able to search a specific forum.

Re: Search Function in Forums?

MaxWedge, I just tried that, when you click it, you are taken to an AF page that has a Search box. I typed in Silverado Windshield Washer and it literally did nothing. I don't know why they would remove the ability to search within a specific forum classification, but I wish it was still there. I am guessing there will be many people having to create new threads, because they won't be able to see if anyone has previously had the same question or issue. (Unless they scroll down through many pages of unrelated topics, looking for their issue).
Do you think that is a tool they reserve only for the paid/Premium accounts?

Re: Search Function in Forums?

I also attempted a generic search. The results were the same as Ol'Jim indicated. I suspect some background issue with the third-party board software either in automatically updating, or possibly not.

Re: Search Function in Forums?

Guys, thank you for confirming what I was seeing.
I wonder how we might escalate this concern to some level of administration who could possibly look into addressing it?
Surely this change was not intentional, anyone who uses any forums regularly knows that users are always encouraged to search for previous posts that may answer their questions, rather than creating new (and possibly duplicate) threads. If you ever post a question on one of the Microsoft / Windows forums, you quickly get a flood of harsh responses asking if you tried searching past threads first.

As a moderator I posed this issue with the administrator.
