91 Geo Storm 170,000 miles worth?

I have a 1991 Geo Storm with a 170,000 miles. The clutch just died on it but otherwise I've kept it in good shape since I got it at 68,000 miles 9 years ago. Is it worth trying to sell or should I have it towed to a scrap yard. I bought a used 4Runner a week ago. I loved that little car and am really sad to see it go.

Anyone know how much it would cost to replace the clutch? Is it worth it?

You could get some money outta that car if it's been taken care of. 170,000 is up there on an import engine, but it's nothing to where it's going to completely break down all the time. It also depends on the body shape and how well the paint has been kept on it. Does it have any rust or bubbles in the paint? If so, then the value would go down in it, but those cars have a popularity amongst people so I wouldn't just go scrap it in a junkyard, I would at least try to sell it.

UHHH scrap it..or part it out...definitely not gonna get profit from trying to fix it and sell...cut your losses, and part it out or if the $350 - $500 you might get from the parts isn't worth it to you SCRAP IT. (you would also have to factor in selling the parts, advertising, shipping, time involved, etc.)

Re: 91 Geo Storm 170,000 miles worth?

It cost me $400 for me to take mine to my friends shop and have a new clutch put in everyone else wanted $500-$600 but my motor has 280,000 miles on it and is still running like a champ since I got my new clutch. If you dont want to put the money out on clutch I would recommend trying to sell it on Craigslist especially if its in good condition because its only worth about $150 bucks at the scrap yard. If you cant sell it whole try parting it out and selling it because parts tend to be expensive and sometimes hard to find which im sure you know since you have owned it for 9 years.

Keep it + put a new DIY clutch kit for $150 @ www.rockauto.com ,or donate as a big brother to a DIY youngster on AF?t=
See http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul....php?t=1079399

You can also barter free GEO for lawn service, Brandon has a lawn mower.

Re: 91 Geo Storm 170,000 miles worth?

Hi, ...I've got a '91 Storm Gsi, 125k miles, slight front end damage. Teal in color, I'm the original owner, and car was very well kept. Interior is excellent, paint is excellent, motor and transmission are both fine. It never ran hot, never used oil, and I was still getting 35-40 mpg when it was parked. Has been kept under carport ever since. But I'm moving, and it has to go. I simply hate to crush it !! I love this car !!
Anyone out there interested ?? I'm located in central Arkansas.
Open to any offers !!
Thanks,
Sheri
